No matter what type of natural hair you have – rough or dry, fragile or fine – there is always a way to give it a silky, smooth and shiny feel. You just need to ensure proper hair care.

It is the outer layer of your hair which keeps them moist and shiny. It has natural oil to give it a shiny impression, and when the external layer lacks enough nutrition, it gives a dull impression. Even the use of everyday hair cosmetics can reduce the natural sheen.

Here are some ways to retain the natural shine and glean of your hair.

1.Jaborandi

This herbal oil made from Jaborandi and Brahmi leaves extract is a must for keeping your hair nourished without any side-effects. Brahmi is a naturally effective source for conditioning the hair and enhancing hair growth. Jaborandi, on the other hand, prevents problems like dry scalp and dandruff, which gives hair a dull look and feel.

Directions For Use

• Apply Brahmi Jaborandi oil mix on the roots of your scalp on alternate nights.
• Leave it to rest for at least 4 hours, preferably the whole night. The next morning, wash it with a scalp cleanser.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

The main component in apple cider vinegar is acetic acid which has many benefits to keep your hair in a healthy and shiny condition. Acetic acid also has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. The pH (natural acidity) of the scalp is balanced with the acetic effect. It also detangles your hair to keep the cuticle (the outer cellular layer of hair which keeps hair protected) closed and healthy for a shinier look.

Directions For Use

• Mix the apple cider vinegar solution in an equal amount of water and use the solution to rinse your hair after the shampoo.
• There are apple cider vinegar sprays available in the market. You have a choice to spray them directly on your hair. You still need to massage it and then wash it off with a conditioner or shampoo.

3. Henna

It has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties to maintain a healthy scalp condition. It has a red pigmentation, and if you wish to colour your hair, it is the perfect ingredient for shiny and silky hair.

Directions For Use

• Mix the pure Henna powder in water to form a thick paste and then apply it directly to your hair.
• Leave it to rest for 60 minutes and then gently rinse it in water.
• Avoid using shampoo to wash it.

4. Yoghurt

It is a natural hydrant for your hair. It is rich in Vitamin B5, Vitamin D and proteins, which stimulate hair strengthening and reduce hair loss due to dull and dry hair.

Vitamin B5 supports the adrenal glands which means that it reduces the adrenal fatigue. Adrenal hormonal insufficiency is linked to hair loss since it reduces production of hormones like testosterone leading to hair loss. DHT, a hormone found in hair follicles is made of testosterone.

Directions For Use

• Add a tablespoon of honey to yoghurt. Mix lemon juice for the best shining results.
• Apply it directly to your hair and rinse it off after 45 minutes.

5. Green Tea

It is a rich source of antioxidants which neutralise free radicals (chemical reactions which occur due to stress and other factors) to maintain healthy hair. It also contains amino acids (which stimulate protein) and panthenol (a derivative of vitamin B5). Both, help support robust hair growth and lustre.

Directions For Use

• After your regular hair washes, massage your hair and scalp with the just brewed green tea.
• Let it rest for 15 minutes and wash it under cold water. Use cold water to prevent further problems like dandruff.
