Premature
greying is defined as the greying
of hair before the age of 35. After 35 years greying is a normal physiological
process. A pigment called melanin manufactured by the melanocytes
gives the colour to the hair and skin. In hairs, which are prematurely
greying, functional melanocytes are absent.
