Trichology is the specialist field in dealing with problems of the
hair and scalp, these problems include hair loss, baldness, scaling
of the scalp, itching, hair breakage, dryness and oiliness. It is
basically the science of Hair & Scalp in Health and Disease
which was founded in London in 1902. A
Trichologist is a person who has
studied and successfully completed
a recognised Trichology Educational Program. The
International Association of Trichologists (I.A.T.)(http://www.trichology.edu.au/), a non-profit organization,
was established in 1974 to promote the study, research and legitimate practice
in all aspects pertaining to the treatment and care of the human hair and
scalp in health and disease, and to supply comprehensive instruction and
training in the professional application of this scientific specialty. The
trichology course was developed at the University of Southern California
during 1974-75.
