HAIR CARE
Hair
is your body's barometer. A healthy
body produces healthy hair. In fact hair is the second fastest
growing organ in the human anatomy after the bone marrow and it grows at
the rate of half an inch a month. Hair problems are the first signs that
something is wrong with you internally.
The Structure of hair:
The hair has a root, called the bulb and the
body, which is called the shaft. The root has a small tail like papilla,
which hooks itself to the blood supply below the scalp and provides
the hair with the oxygen and nutrition, which is required. Hair grows
from a small little hole, which is called the hair follicle and is
made up of proteins and the minerals.
This is a picture of normal and healthy hair. In some people, the
bulb gets damaged, in some - the body
gets damaged, in some the bulb that is the root and the body that is the
shaft, both get damaged. These damages occur in people who have mineral
deficiency inside their hair, or those who perm, colour or tint their hair. |

The Tricho-analysis of the hair includes Hair
analysis and Scalp analysis. The Hair
analysis helps us to know the AT ratio of the hair which
is the diagnostic method to find out whether you suffer from hair
loss or not. It also indicates the keratin level of the hair, i.e.
it indicates whether you are eating properly and if you are eating
properly whether the body is assimilating the protein called keratin
which is there inside the hair. The Hair analysis also determines
the mineral content in your hair. |
 |
The Scalp analysis is
done with the help of the capilloscopy and densitometry
machine, which helps us find out the exact volume and density
of your hair as also the exact number of hair follicles all over your
scalp, and the state of your hair follicles and scalp. A healthy
scalp is a prerequisite to healthy hair. Now that we have done
the examination of your hair on the Tricho-analyzer, sit
back and relax, wait for the reports to come in. |

What is the AT ratio?
In our scalp we have three different types of hair
- the Anagen hair, the Catagen hair and the Telogen hair. The Anagen hair
is the hair, which is in the growth phase. The Catagen hair is the hair,
which is in the resting phase and the Telogen hair, is the hair, which is
in the falling phase. So all over our scalp we have some hair which grow,
some which take rest, and some which fall. The life cycle of a hair is 3
years and 4 months and we have 25 life cycles, in our life span. But unlike
all other mammals, where hair grows together and falls off together, man
is the only mammal, where hair does not grow and fall off together, otherwise
every three years and four months, you would go bald. This can be determined
by the AT ratio, which is called as the Anagen Telogen ratio,
or the ratio of growth to the ratio of fall, which under normal circumstances,
is 80: 20. That means at any given point of time in your scalp 80% of the
hair are in the growth phase and 20% in the falling phase.
